Directed by: Yeon Sang-Ho Starring: Jun Ji-Hyun, Koo Kyo-Hwan, Ji Chang-Wook Go Horror Rating: B All these years later and we're still capable of releasing awesome Zombie films. With it being such a classic and satisfying sub-genre, it's vital that a director, at least from time to time, proves it's still worth it. My only real gripe with the movie was it wasn't as intense as I wanted it to be and I didn't feel a big sense of urgency in some scenes. It was kind of like some of the actors didn't quite feel the gravity of certain situations but alas, it didn't detract from the chaos of the movie. The hive-mind and adaptive ways of the zombies was certainly a fresh, and thrilling take.

Directed by: Rhys Frake-Waterfield Starring: Cameron Bell, Richard Brake, Jessica Balmer Go Horror Rating: A Many critics are completely up their own asses about this film and I hope they enjoy having those wrong opinions. This movie rocked. I haven't felt this way since the days of Child's Play and Lepprechaun. Great kills and gore, plenty of funny moments and very good acting by the mains. A lighter version of a coming-of-age tale while in more of a twisted world. Just don't go into thinking it's a del Toro masterpiece and appreciate it for exactly what it is, which is a truly awesome and fun slasher.

Directed by: Marc Klasfeld Starring: Adeline Rudolph, Jake Manley, Nicholas Hamilton Go Horror Rating: D A bunch of nobody, urban explorers decide to take it up a notch and check out this conveniently accessible hotel. A lazy story of hidden money that took like 14 seconds to find, weird re-using of shots, rough script, and deficient chemistry with the actors had me happy when it all ended. There's a lot of bad to this movie and most of it made no sense.

Directed by: Jeff Wadlow Starring: Kathryn Newton, Lana Condor, Nico Hiraga Go Horror Rating: D Is there ever going to be another good shark movie?! Shout out to Deep Blue Sea! This one missed almost every mark possible. Annoying bickering and indecision, rough acting from half the cast, a drawn out story that could have ended 20 minutes earlier... the list goes on. The idea is an old one but I appreciated a new take and semi-new type of setting. It just had too much filler and almost no intensity at all. An hour and 45 minutes and a lot of eye-rolls later, we're onto the next one.

Directed by: Brock Bodell Starring: Dakota Gorman, Todd Terry, James Austin Johnson Go Horror Rating: B I like horror movies that have small, simple settings. Hellcat scratches that itch an the acting was effective. A really solid first film for Bodell. Even though the most tension came from mugs and photos swinging robotically in the trailer, I actually liked how the movie ended. Gorman and Terry were great and I especially liked how fantasy got kicked in the nuts back to reality, only to culminate in a 'wtf' manner.

Directed by: Hanna Bergholm Starring: Seidi Haarla, Rupert Grint, Pamela Tola Go Horror Rating: A This movie was a blast. Seidi Haarla gave one of my favourite performances in a horror movie this year and overall, this was a great folk horror tale. Insert some body horror, a little comedy, and a great setting, you get one of the best horror movies of 2026. If anything, the only annoying thing in this movie is friggin' Ron Weasley. He drove me nuts and I can't tell if it was on purpose or not but anyway... Watch this movie, highly recommended!

Directed by: Genki Kawamura Starring: Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma Go Horror Rating: B Very simple in its execution but for me, a smidge on the ho-hum side. As a video game adaptation, it was great. It just sort of unravels a bit with its meaning, and the ending. The movie explores indecision, apathy, and facing your problems. I don't feel like I got the right amount of closure in the end and that's what stuck with me most. Otherwise, it's a stylish and thoughtful film.

From COD streamer to Freaky Nikki to... Rogue? Looks like Inde Navarrette is headed back to the big screen to play Rogue in the upcoming X-Men movie from Marvel Studios. She'll be joining other cast members Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Christopher Abbott (Prof. X), and Adam Driver (Mr. Sinister). Its been wild to see her rapid ascendance from FPS, to colossal success in Obsession, all the way to the top in the MCU. This is huge news for fans of Inde and forever keeps us optimistic that great horror can see breakthroughs for talented actors and actresses. This is one hell of a pat-on-the-back for Inde and to a lesser extent, Curry Barker.

Directed by: Jonny Campbell Starring: Joe Keery, Georgina Campbell, Liam Neeson Go Horror Rating: B Keery, Campbell, and Neeson kick ass in this parasitic gore-comedy. Awesome chemistry between all the mains and even the supporting cast was on point with everything. A shallow but fun story, some cheesy (in a good way) comedy, the right amount of blood and guts and what seemed to be a picture perfect buy-in from the cast, had us invested and loving this movie. "He's got Covid!" lol - Ahhh that was great!

Before Jason, there was Pamela Coming October 15th on Peacock, A24's 'Crystal Lake' will be unleashed into our lives. The series is a prequel to the 1980 film Friday the 13th and stars Linda Cardellini in the leading role of Pamela Voorhees. All 8 episodes will drop at the same time which is music to our ears and we can't wait to binge them. From showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry) earlier this week: “I think the biggest conceptual issue was people know what to expect from a Friday the 13th, or at least they know what a Friday the 13th movie should be. Teens go out to a place, they are having sex and doing drugs, and then they are hunted by Mrs. Voorhees or Jason in the subsequent films. But, thankfully, we weren’t making a Friday the 13th movie. They are going to make another Friday the 13th movie, which I’m sure will be Friday the 13th to the max; but this was called Crystal Lake, and we were doing a story about the town and a prequel about Jason’s mom, and it was really fresh snow.” “We could build it however we wanted. And feeling ownership for the franchise as a long‑time fan and a lover of it, truly die‑hard lover, I kind of knew what I wanted to see as a grown‑up Friday the 13th fan, as somebody who these movies opened doors for me and opened my eyes and I was thrilled watching them with thousand‑seaters full of people yelling at the screen.
