As many of you already know, Netflix is pumping out a new Resident Evil, live action series. Today we get some new details and artwork for Capcom's longstanding, legendary series. From Netflix: “2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.” We've got some tasty new artwork to sink our teeth into as well! This new series has brought together a hell of a cast featuring; Lance Reddick, Tamara Smart, Adeline Rudolph, Siena Agudong, Ella Balinska, Paola Nunez, and drops from Constantin Film, the group behind the original movies starring Milla Jovovich. The series will debut on July 14th on Netflix. Stay tuned, get stoked.

Everyone calm the hell down. Or don't. I'm sort of calm and as much as this is probably nothing, I can't help but be deep-down-stoked. Konami has updated the trademark status for Silent Hill, including a VR application. Off the top, this is a pants-shitting idea that I can only dream of coming true. Air sirens and crazy-legged-nurses in VR would be insane and we're here for it. Silent Hill is one of the most legendary series in gaming history. I'd argue that it would have even more of a following than Resident Evil had the series stayed mainstream and continued to develop. It's too bad Kojima left Konami but hey, we got Death Stranding (props to you, too, del Toro!). There have been some rumblings that Kojima has a PSVR game in development, which would line up with these new filings, I just really don't want to get my hopes up. And any Silent Hill fan will tell you that 'putting two and two together' just leads to further heartache and disappointment. Nowadays, horror is full-frontal in the mainstream whether it be film or gaming. A new triple A title, especially in a series with a heavy reputation like this, will flounder. It would destroy. It would be an incredible move. I don't expect any imminent announcement and all we can hope for is that this is finally the type of news that gets the ball rolling, and delivers us a new entry to the series.

Directed by: Tom Cosgrove Starring: Aoife Honohan, Elise Brennan, Shane Connellan Go Horror Rating: D I'm not entirely sure why I had high-hopes for this movie but it was definitely a letdown. Apparently this movie won some awards? Really, though, the progression of events was atrocious. Dude strays from the pack and and somehow gets a stick in his leg. From this point on, the movie is absolute nonsense (aside from a pretty bad opening scene). I can't bury the entire cast and their delivery, because some of it was pretty good, but the entire scene where Ray (Eoin O'Sullivan) eventually bites the bullet, is absolute garbage. I did appreciate the scenery at the start of the movie. The somberness that the rain, gloomy sky, and terrain provided was effective, but this movie falls way too short in pretty much every other aspect. Stumbling and predictable, with no backbone.

Directed by: Sam Walker Starring: Lucy Martin, Chelsea Edge, Sophie Vavasseur Go Horror Rating: C I'm a sucker for colour in movies and this one didn't disappoint. From the beginning and relatively consistent all the way through, the pallet was everchanging and pleasing to the eye. That said, 2/3 of the main characters were irritating as hell for 75% of the movie. Deidre (Lucy Martin) was a little too much, and didn't really have the right look to back up her 'tryhard' sass. I didn't mind the 'follower' feel to Heather (Sophie Vavasseur) for a little while, but she was too forgettable. Charlotte (Chelsea Edge) was actually decent and I appreciated her efforts and the role she was playing. I'm still, several hours later, divided on what I thought about the monster. A cross between a burnt turtle and a rotisserie chicken is certainly creepy, just not scary in any way. The goofy mating sessions and mind control worked. The ease in which the creature was demolished did not. I wish the 'final girl' sequence at the end felt more aggressive. Charlotte had been taking enough shit throughout the movie that some more rage would have been justified. Lastly, I think the influencer/internet angle in horror movies really walks a fine line. It takes a lot of creativity and execution to make it feel right. Walker, unfortunately, mailed it in... and it sucks that it ate up so much of the run time.

EA Motive has dropped some new news, saying that the Dead Space remake is coming in early 2023. If that's the case, we're stoked. If that's not the case, we're still stoked, we just hate waiting for cool releases. The Dead Space series was a staple for us in the 360 days and even years later, we delve back into it from time to time. All the background chatter about the development got us excited and we're glad to see some light at the end of the tunnel. The devs say it's still in pre-alpha but word on the street is a full walk-through will be released shortly. Man, this game is going to be awesome with modernized sound and lighting effects. Expect the Dead Space remake to launch on XBOX Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Directed by: Toby Poser, John Adams, Zelda Adams Starring: Zelda Adams, Toby Poser, Lulu Adams Go Horror Rating: B I dug the isolation vibe, I dug the 'coming-of-age' story, I dug the overall acting and execution, especially for a budget/DIY film, but I definitely didn't dig the musical interludes. It somehow slowed the pace down, which I think was the opposite of what they were trying to achieve (or maybe it was just shameless branding). Hated the random 'vintage' drumset that was planted beside the pool and how a few teens rocked out to a chick wiggling around and literally only hitting a snare drum. Putting that to the side, the family chemistry and great dialogue between mother and daughter really secured this as a good indie watch. Scenic and unique, yet dark enough without trying too hard.

Directed by: Isaac Walsh Starring: Taye Diggs, Jessica Uberuaga, Michael Madsen Go Horror Rating: D Just finished watching this and I honestly can't tell if this movie had a script or if the actors were making shit up as they went along. I mean, if you're into weird camera filters, a doomy looking house, D-Grade sound and spook effects, and unattended food on the stove... this movie is right up your alley. An irrelevant cast with a story that I still don't understand, this is just another accidental-demon-summoning-omg-what-do-we-do pile of crap.
