Based on critic reviews you'd think this was the worst movie of the year. I can safely say that that's total horseshit. Sure some of the plot is murky and it's probably not winning any awards, but it was good. I thought Lee and Moura were convincing and I felt the family dynamic worked. I might hate the sewer scene but that's neither here nor there. It's certainly a movie that will garner attention, both good and bad. There are also people who will say this movie sucked and then say M. Night Shyamalan is their favourite director. I'm not sure if its risk or a little more intensity but I found myself thinking that I wished Shyamalan movies felt a little more like this in some ways. I didn't find it slow and procedurally, it totally landed. Like I said, it could use some buffing out, but it's absolutely worth watching.
